Garlic-Prego Roasted Chicken

Here’s a simple construction for Garlic-Prego Roasted Chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (3-4 lbs)
  • 1 jar Prego pasta sauce (about 24 oz)
  • 10-12 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Chicken:
  • Rinse the chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  • Season the inside of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  1. Make the Garlic Mixture:
  • In a bowl, mix the minced garlic with olive oil, salt, and pepper. If using, add chopped fresh herbs.
  1. Apply the Mixture:
  • Carefully loosen the skin over the chicken breast and thighs. Rub the garlic mixture under the skin and over the top of the chicken.
  1. Add Sauce:
  • Place the chicken in a roasting pan. Pour the jar of Prego sauce over the chicken, ensuring it covers the chicken well.

  • Cover the pan loosely with foil. Roast in the preheated oven for about 1 hour. Remove the foil and continue roasting for another 30-45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the skin is golden brown.

  • Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving. Serve with the sauce poured over the top.
